“We’re here to talk about the Air Canada expansion out of YVR,” declared Bonnie Walker, Air Canada’s director of sales for Western Canada, to a group of travel agents, industry partners and tour operators in Vancouver on October 2.
“Over the past five years, Air Canada has increased capacity in and out of YVR by 60 per cent,” she continued, “carrying 10.5 million passengers.”
In 2017, Air Canada inaugurated routes to Denver, Dallas, Boston, Phoenix, Frankfurt, Nagoya, Taipei and London-Gatwick out of Vancouver. The year ends with the launch of seasonal service to Delhi October 14; Melbourne December 1; Yellowknife December 15 and Orlando December 20.
Looking ahead, the airline also announced the launch of year-round three-times-weekly flights to Melbourne June 1, 2018; four-times weekly flights to Paris June 8 to October 15; and three-times-weekly flights to Zurich June 7 to October.
AC037 departs Vancouver at 22:45 Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, landing in Melbourne at 07:55 (+ two days). The return, AC038, departs Melbourne Tuesday Friday and Sunday at 09:40 and arrives in Vancouver 07:35.
AC806 takes off from Vancouver at 13:30 Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, landing in Paris at 08:15 (+1 day); AC807 takes off Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10:50 landing at 10:50 in Vancouver.
AC802 flies Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 12:55 touching down in Zurich at 07:50 (+1 day); AC803 flies at 09:30 Wednesday, Friday and Sunday touching down in Vancouver at 10:50.
There will also be an increase in service to Delhi to five-times weekly and to London-Heathrow twice daily.
The launch of the non-stop Yellowknife route represents the only daily service between Vancouver and the northern city.
AC8833 departs Vancouver at 16:00, arriving at 7:30 p.m., while the return leaves Yellowknife at 07:30, arriving at 08:53. The seasonal flight runs December 15, 2017 to April 1, 2018.
