Voyages A La Carte to launch new B2B platform

Travel agents booking air for clients will soon have a new tool at their disposal, when Agencia Global officially launches later this month.

The new online B2B platform from Voyages A La Carte will provide travel agents with access to millions of consolidator and net fares without fees or mark-ups, while offering agents additional protection through the incorporation of anti-fraud technology. Commissions to agents are reconciled and paid out on a weekly basis and full customer support for Canadian and American agents will be offered out of Voyages A La Carte’s Montreal office; any changes or service required for travel agents in the post-booking process will be fully supported by a highly trained team located in Montreal.

Ryan Saroli, CEO of Voyages A La Carte, told PAX that the new platform is key to growing the company’s B2B business and was designed with travel agents in mind; feedback was drawn from Voyages A La Carte’s network of 5,000 travel agents across Canada.

“The travel agent is usually going into whichever GDS they use, searching for fares and booking that way,” Saroli said, adding that agents will be right at home with a user-friendly interface. “We’re a tech company first and we believe we have the strongest platform, with an appearance similar to an online travel agency, where you enter your destination and dates, number of passengers and then pick from a number of options.”

Agents will be able to access Agencia Global free of charge with no surcharges on fare bookings, Saroli said, adding that any income generated for Voyages A La Carte through the platform will come via segment revenue from bookings made with GDS, as well as payments from airlines for reaching booking targets.

“There’s some consolidator tools out there which are similar to Agencia Global,” he said, “but typically they charge transactional fees or take the net fare and mark it up slightly and offer that to agents. We don’t do either of those; our goal is to provide the lowest possible fares to travel agents and just make it easy for them to use.”

And Agencia Global also offers added peace of mind for agents with built-in fraud-screening tools. While liability ultimately rests with agents, Saroli explained that the platform “makes a risk assessment for any given booking” by weighing factors such as the name of the credit cardholder and passenger, as well as the origin and destination of the booking. Those which don’t pass the assessment are investigated further.
